Having spent literally years thinking about and designing our forever home, we were naturally keen to get it right when it came time to turn our shiny new plans into an actual place to live. We knew we needed a reputable builder with proven experience in delivering comparable projects to an exceptional standard, though in choosing James McBride and Associates not only did we have someone we could trust implicitly to do the job well, but someone who set the standard even higher than we did.

Right from the outset we could see that James had a sophisticated understanding of the requirements of the project which gave us peace of mind that the quality and pricing would be commensurate with our expectations. We very much appreciated James’ problem solving skills, particularly in identifying and proactively managing potential issues. He even managed to keep our less than cooperative neighbour on side throughout the process.

With a sharp focus and attention to detail, nothing was ever overlooked. Try as we did, we couldn’t manage to find a single defect, much less an error in his invoices!

When our ideas or needs presented unique challenges, James managed to find a way to make it happen, achieving functionality without compromising on quality or design, like installing a customised doggie door that was in keeping with the high end aesthetic.

Being so highly organised meant unnecessary delays were avoided and we were able to move in as scheduled.

It is now two years since we moved in, and I can genuinely say that the value of JMA’s work continues long after the construction ends. We notice it when our house functions the way it’s supposed to, and we notice it when we don’t need to concern ourselves with maintenance problems that can arise from a poor quality build.

We are incredibly proud of the home that James helped us to establish and continue to happily accept countless compliments from our many guests and visitors. We would be delighted to share our experience with anyone considering engaging JMA for their own project.

Going through a major renovation was relatively stress free with James and his team. As building got underway and the usual unexpected issues arose James was diligent in providing solutions along with sound guidance and advice. James provided good communication along the way and is an inclusive builder ensuring his client is involved in key aspects of the project. His flexibility allowed me to stay within my budget with limited compromise and his focus on delivering a quality build aligned with my desire for a sympathetic restoration of a period home. When work commitments interfered with my availability, James proved to be a reliable and methodical builder focused on quality and delivery against schedule. Post handover James continued to provide good service as minor changes and snagging items were professionally dealt with. All visitors to my home comment on the high quality of the design and build and remark upon the manner in which the renovation maintains the original character of the terrace home. I would have no hesitation in recommending James to prospective clients.

James is very organised, a good communicator, extremely professional, respectful, with his contract administration being impeccable. He has a great eye for design and is very detail focused, and is fantastic at resolving on site issues, with the outcome always being of a high level. He is respectful of the whole project team, including the architect, client, and his trades.
